Film Series @ The Carr Center

  • The Carr Center 15 East Kirby Street Detroit, MI, 48202 United States (map)

Every Thursday at 7:30 PM, NOVA24 will be collaborating with The Carr Center to showcase films that seek to tell stories across several genres, techniques, and schools of thought.

Founded in 1991, The Carr Center’s core mission is to platform and uplift Black excellence, history, creativity, and culture. The Carr Center hosts multiple programs aimed at educating others about the importance of preserving Black artistry—particularly notable is their Artist Hub, which supports local and regional artists and hosts rotating exhibits and guest artist residencies. Their dedication to displaying various forms of art, from photo and film to music and poetry, makes The Carr Center one of Detroit’s foremost patrons of creativity, and NOVA24 is extremely honored to take part in The Carr Center legacy.

The series will include short film group screenings from various filmmakers, as well as highlighted screenings of Danielle Eliska’s “Serial Monogamous” and Miles Reuben’s “Merlot”. Programming includes an artist talk made up of those filmmakers to give audiences insight on their creative processes. Join us every Thursday from July 11th to August 1st to explore the emerging voices of Detroit’s film scene.
