Grab your camera and join us on an exploration of the area surrounding PhotoHouse!
In our first of a small series of photo walks across Detroit, the NOVA24 team is meeting up with visual artists at PhotoHouse, a studio, workshop, and hangout spot that’s established itself as a true home for Detroit’s community of creatives. After spending a little time inside the studio, we’ll be leading the group with the help of the House’s own Xavier Cuevas, better known as Barelyhispanic. Barelyhispanic is a Detroit-born lens based visual artist that showcases his love for his friends, his home, and his Puerto Rican heritage through beautifully grounded depictions of the city and its people. As the founder of PhotoHouse, Cuevas works towards balancing and embracing both sides of his identity as he tells his story, and helps others tell theirs, too.
Get ready to chat with local artists (or reacquaint yourself with some friends) as we stroll around from 1–3 PM. There’s no fee to enter, but don’t forget to bring your own equipment, a keen eye, and some comfortable shoes!
